Introduction

Through 10 years of efforts, C&F has formed its own systematic teaching structure. Breaking the lecture mode adopted in most traditional schools, C&F attempts to give students chance to lead in the class, encourage them to think actively, explore and practice English. According to the duration of learning in C&F, we increase the difficulty level, helping students to improve their language ability in accordance with their mental development. Children who has accepted the systematic education practiced by C&F school can obtain a grade of over 108 in Toefl test when they are in high school, being able to meet the language requirements of Ivy League Universities. In addition, C&F also integrates teachers, students and especially parents into classroom environments, which reaches a balance between school and family education, providing support to students to the greatest extent.

Waiting list?Why?

If parents want his or her child to study at C&F, they have to go into the classrooms first and experience the class atmosphere, and make decisions on whether they accept the method of education. After that, when parents register, their kids are in the queue which is the very first step of C&F education system. Why should students queue? Since the foundation of the school, C&F insists on the act of ‘in queue’ which seems quite crazy. For traditional training institutes, students mean income, but C&F sacrifices income to the queueing. Although it is hard to understand to most people, queueing is a very important step in guaranteeing the quality of C&F.

In order to guarantee teaching quality, teachers are critical in the process. In 2016, C&F receives 12640 applications for the position of English teacher. Only 11 were selected and became formal teachers of C&F, which reflects the high requirements of C&F in evaluating teachers. As a result, if there are no suitable candidates, C&F will never lower its requirements for teaching quality and accept more students under the condition, that is how we make sure every child in C&F receives proper education. To put it in another way, C&F was born to provide high quality education, expanded platform and widened vision to children, rather than making profits by accepting maximum students.

On the other hand, in the special system of C&F, parents need to join in the classrooms which is an unprecedented challenge to many parents. Through queueing, parents pay attention to C&F’s news and activities, and also prepare themselves to accompany their kids to classes. After waiting for long, the school and parents have achieved certain compatibility which accelerates children to grow. According to Matthew effect, when there are more and more parents who are willing to spend time and efforts in educating their children, the effect of both school and family education will double. With highly qualified teachers and patient parents, children can learn better.

It significantly augments and increases students’ vocabulary while fostering a student’s ability in answering comprehension questions both orally and writing.

Applied Speaking Class is a supplement to Vocabulary Speaking Class, and reviews the vocabulary, sentences and grammar that are taught in the Vocabulary Speaking Class. Moreover, Applied Speaking Class focuses on the application of what is learned. Therefore, role plays are an integral part of the class, including situations of giving suggestions, sharing opinions, describing people, and describing places or objects. With music and props to assist performance, students are encouraged to get speaking English and use English as much as possible in the class.

This class aims at providing opportunities to practice. The course will last for 18 months, which is a supplement to Vocab Speaking Class and Applied Speaking Class. Original cultures brought by the teacher will also be added to the class.

During the Context Class, students’ pronunciation and intonation will be improved to the next stage and they will make obvious progress in word choice. In addition, students can gain more opportunities to communicate in the Context Class. Through communication, students learn conversation logic of native speakers’ which enables them to express their opinions and organize their ideas in addition to practicing sentence patterns.

After spending half a year learning basic vocabulary and sentence patterns, students will be trained in phonics systematically. The phonics class helps students to read out new words, eliminate barriers when reading, and strengthens students’ confidence when they read. Phonics class will start from the fundamental letter names and letter sounds and teach main spelling rules including consonant clusters.

A great many opportunities will be given to students and pronunciation rules are practiced intensively. On one hand, students can read out more words with the help of phonics pronunciation rules. On the other hand, the phonics class corrects students’ pronunciation. After learning phonics, students will be able to read efficiently, which prepares them well for reading skills at the next stage.

Depending on the points a student earns after one-year enrollment in C&F, he or she can choose among the various curriculums to develop their interest and improve their ability in other school subjects. The classes in this section include Math, Mindset Training Class and Classic Chinese Reading, analytical reading, speech, chorus and so on.

Math Mindset Training Class is based on basic math knowledge and trains students to be logical at a young age. Classic Chinese Reading Class leads children to read classic Chinese texts and philosophy from a perspective that is easy to understand by children. Analytical reading helps students to understand a passage not only on the literal level, but also on the structural level. When students finish this curriculum, they are supposed be equipped with diverse needs for different subject knowledge.

The Grammar Class aims to teach grammar systematically based on the age and cognitive ability of students who finish two-year study at C&F. In the primary phase of grammar learning, students focus on morphology, gradually progress to syntax, and finally are able to write correct English sentences in written form with solid understanding of Grammar rules. In the advanced level of grammar learning, students pay more attention to syntax and logic. This phase will focus on simple sentences, compound and complex sentences, and combining these sentences to become paragraphs, laying a foundation for writing class.

After learning Grammar Class, students’ oral expression will be more accurate. Students will realize they learn English in a different way; that is the learning method has transferred from mechanical memorizing to understanding, which makes language learning more efficient. Solid knowledge in grammar also helps students to read faster and more effectively with understanding of inter- and inner-sentence relations. Grammar Class is a considerable transition for students of C&F from a speaking focused training course to the ability structure of academic reading and writing.

After two and half years of studying at C&F, students will begin to study reading strategies systematically. Reading Class is divided into three levels – primary, intermediate and advanced level. According to students’ age, C&F picks the most suitable books to teach in class. Students expand vocabulary through reading, and learn the methods of reading and the five elements of fiction books. Students are encouraged to draw their own mind map of a certain book. The final step is to retell the story with clues drawn on their own mind maps.

The junior primary level is designed to first build up a student’s reading habits by introducing a simple, interesting picture book. Once a student has developed a good reading habit the reading fluency will improve over the course of time. The intermediate level students will read both fiction and non-fiction literature in order to expand their vocabulary. With the accumulation of vocabularyAs vocabulary accumulates, students will naturally enter move to the advanced stage as when they acquire more ample knowledge, and gain fluency in language, and strong confidence.

After 4 years of studying at C&F school and completion of the Grammar Class, students will have writing course learn the vital steps of: logical relationships when combining sentences and constructing quality sentences and text cohesion. The students will study how to fluently write different types of essays: narratives, expositorexpositoriesy, and argumentsative essays. Moreover, they will get to know how to organize and develop the paragraphs and further more. Then, how to reinforce their stand and weaken others’that of the rivals’

On finishing the course, students should be able to demonstrate a consistent written usage of the English language and syntactic variety. Moreover, students may master the traits of different genres of essays and evaluate one. It is also appreciable for students to conduct dialectical analysis of certain topics and express their opinions. As a result, when an opinion paper is given, students are able to analyze the relationship between ideas, reasons and details, distinguish common logical mistakes, and make improvements to the sample essay.
